Let’s turn those photos, into heirlooms!
You’re engaged *yay* and your big day is fast approaching! Alright, you’re wanting the best photos possible, well lean in and listen up because today I’m sharing my top tips for getting photos that you will cherish for a lifetime!
There it is, a simple word, but when the day arrives and the festivities get underway I need you to trust that I will do your love story justice. That I will be capturing those special moments, and documenting your big day from all of the right angles. It’s actually a day to celebrate your love, and how dope is that? That’s exactly what I want you to do, celebrate. Sip champagne, ugly cry, dance until your feet are sore, and enjoy while I get all of it captured.
Pretend like I’m not even there!
Easier said then done, amirite? We will get all of the posed photos that you want, but when we aren’t, just pretend as if I’m not even there. You’ll have a slew of candid photos to choose from, with all of that genuine emotion shining through!
Have all of your details together before I arrive
Scratch that, have them gathered and in one spot the night before. This includes (but in no way is limited to) a copy of your invitations, a pretty hanger for your dress, shoes, jewelry, gifts from (or to) your boo, your veil, any significant family heirlooms, and don’t forget the rings (yes, all of them!). Place them in a box or a tote, and leave them by the foot of your dress. That way when I arrive, you can sip champagne while I photograph all of the details!
Get ready in a naturally lit space
If possible position the makeup and hair station directly in front of a window. The more light, the better! Another favorite piece of advice is take a minute to browse local Airbnbs to get ready at. It’s a great way to mix it up, and opens up a ton of possibilities for unique backgrounds and beautiful images!
Lean on Your Wedding Party
These are your favorite people in the world, and they are there to celebrate your love! Look to them if you need someone to run up to the hotel room, or to call an Uber, double check that no one is wearing rubber bands around their wrists, or make sure that those two family members never have to pose together. Delegate where possible and it will alleviate so much stress on your big day!
Do a first look
Hiding from your groom is a lot trickier than you might think. Doing a first look allows you to enjoy more of your day together, and gives you an intimate moment alone before the party begins! Need more convincing? Check out this entire post that I did on why you should consider a first look!
Let’s talk timeline
If you’re a past bride of mine, then you know how serious I am about my timelines. They are there to optimize photo opportunities, capture you and your boo in the best possible light, and also ensure that you get to be as much a part of your day as you would like!
With every quiet moment, I want you to be reminded to take it all in, to be present through the chaos, and just enjoy! Deep breaths will be your best friend, added bonus, they give you amazing posture which equates to beautiful images!
I take on each wedding as if it were my own. Capturing delicate kisses, contagious laughter, and moments that bring tears of joy to my eyes. My job as a photographer isn’t just to give you images and bid you adieu. I want to make sure that you are taken care, that I serve you to the best of my abilities, and give you images that become family heirlooms. The kind that your grandkids gather around and bug you to show them more. Oh yeah, you know the kind.
I’m currently booking for the 2018 and 2019 season! Whether you’re thinking of a courthouse union, a hometown reception or an adventure, shoot me a message and let’s talk all about your love story and dreams for your big day!
