I can speak for 99% of brides when I say that sometimes you just hit a wall, a breaking point, an “ugh, why didn’t we just elope?!” moment when planning your wedding.
If you have reached this point, then congratulations because you’re happily in love, and I can assume that you’ve got the bulk of the work done. Oh, and you’re so close to smooth sailing and soaking in married bliss. However, I see you and feel your struggle because this whole planning a wedding thing, ain’t easy. Read on to see my top tips for avoiding overwhelming when planning for your big day!
Break it Down //
Problems aren’t meant to be handled all at once. Break the scenario down into bitesized pieces that you can take action on now. Having a game plan will not only give you peace, but when you have ones that are put in motion, that’s when the magic happens. That’s also when waking up short of breath, in a sweaty mess will stop also, so y’know, win win.
Rally Yo’ Tribe //
You are surrounded by friends and family who would love nothing more than to play a role in your special day. Don’t feel bad or guilty about asking for a hand every now and then. Mark your calendar a week before you would like the task done to follow up with them. Set it and forget it, if you micromanage this process, it will be completely counterintuitive and will add more stress!
Go Off the Grid //
Can you go an entire weekend without so much as mentioning your wedding? I challenge you to give it a go; no planning, no lemme just email my florist at midnight, none of it! Be a tourist in your own city, drive to the next town over with your fiancé, get out of your space and out of your head!
Hit up a Happy Hour //
Grab your girls, those super close ones that know just with a look that you’re needing a break from the planning process. In the words of my very wise mother, “when in doubt, pour a glass of wine”.
Take A Nap //
If all else fails, climb in to bed and focus on your breath until you drift off. Can we just apply this to everything in our life when it isn’t going so well? Taking care of yourself should not fall at the waist side just because you’re planning your wedding, that includes getting your beauty rest!
A pretty good set of techniques, if I do say so myself!
Are you in the process of planning for your big day? I’d love to hear what it is that you’re struggling with the most right now, and if you put any of these tips to use!
